Why do we assume TLs are responsible for IL?

It makes sense that school libraries and teacher librarians play a key role in developing an information literate school community. The school library houses and creates access to a range of information and learning tools targeted towards the specific needs of teachers and students of the school community. It often is popoulated with a range of information and communication technologies and tools which are ready to use (Hay & Foley, 2009). However, school libraries act as an extension of the classroom in terms of cooperative planning programming and teaching and acting as a point of access for teacher and student resources (Skrzecynski, 1999).
