Extra responsibility?

Teachers might be a little overwhelmed in learning that they are also responsible for teaching IL. But IL skills cant be pushed into any particular subject, activity or lesson. Students develop IL skills when and as they need them. This is through activities at home, at school, in the lab, in the library....anywhere. I think teachers are unknowingly teaching and imbedding IL into lessons and teaching without realising it. Becoming familiar with policy documents and the information process will assist in integrating IL across KLAs without stress and with maximum opportunity for improved learning outcomes. They need to be made aware of this to relieve any anxiety. Different models of IL need to be explored to see what suits best. IL skills can be taught through any lesson, explicitly or not. I think its important that students see that they are using them and how they are using them to achieve the many tasks and goals they work towards, personal and educational.
