OK so Ive hit the modules, forum and readings Im a bit confused so I think Ill type it out (kind of like run it out) to gather my ideas........So, the concept of information literacy can be quite complicated because....think of a reading think of a reading.......Henri (2005) talks about this like ILdoes not have a distinct and universal meaning. How and why? Go back to the reading......Henri (2005) argues that this is because of the changing nature of information literacy and that it is wholly dependant on the conext in which it is being used. I agree! Lets see how other readings compare.
Langford (1998) describes information literacy as both a concept and a process. This must br common..... time to investigate............Alas this view is shared among scholars and educational departments (e.g. NSW DET, 2007; Henri, 2005; Langford, 1998; Skrzeczynski, 1999).
But how does this affect schools? Thinking, go to forum, thinking.......Schools need to determine what skills are relevant and essential and how it will be applied in the whole school context. This then must be clearly communicated and embedded in school policy and clearly communicated to staff and students.
But who is responsible for this.... Principal? The most qualified and appropriate person to lead this is the teacher librarian (With the Principal's support of course!)
