What is the TL role in ILSC and are there obstacles....???

In order to create an information literate school community, teacher librarians must be proactive, leading and uniting staff and executives through effective policy, planning, professional development and reflection. They must act as leaders and consultants in uniting executives and staff in delivering a whole school approach to information literacy which is integrated across the curriculum and embedded into classroom teaching and learning (Spence, 2005). Naturally, this process will meet obstacles such as defining information literacy, identifying what an information literate school community is, gaining support from the school’s executive, uniting staff in a shared understanding and commitment, equipping staff with knowedge and skills in information literacy and having the confidence as a leader and coordinator of whole school information literacy.
