"Yes It is a viable model for learning but the has to be full understanding and commitment from the teaching staff if it is to be successful. There must be extensive professionallearning development of RBL before teacher (and administration) will be comfortable with the model to implement it within the classroom and school wide. It is a monumental shift from the traditional teaching model where teacher's role is central in the learning environment to one (RBL) where students are active paticipants and teacher guide and support student learning (not central but a resource within the learning environment). The structure of the school (physical and intellectual) is also important and needs to be considered in the RBL model."
My reply... bravo! I feel in complete agreeance. I have done alot of reading into RBL and feel that I am in need of some professional learning myself before I could feel confident in sharing and modeling. Actually, my colleagues are expert professionals and I could probably seek guidance from them. Actually, I think I will tomorrow. Its great to be working in such a supportive environment. :)
