The key is constructivism

OK so, all three models are built on constructivist assumptions. How do I know this... hmmm... by the way the steps in each process encourage active learning and emphasise reflective thinking. Evidence? All models have assessment as the last step of the process and involves assessment of both the process itself and the final product.

Examples....For the Big6, it is referred to as evaluation; the NSW model calls it assess; and in the ISP it is assessment. The ISP directly links the thoughts and feelings with the actions and strategies.

As Kulthau (2004) discusses, providing reflective experiences utilise higher orther thinking skills, provide an opportunity for a deeper understanding and transference. For all of the information skills models, this means development of adaptable skills and knowledge where individuals can apply their learning and experiences across information seeking experiences at school, at home and acess them even as they enter the workforce.
